Hà Tĩnh to Đà Nẵng is under a heavy-rain bulletin from tonight, and the totals do not match

The national forecast issued at 09:00 puts 50–100 mm, locally over 200 mm, on the stretch from Hà Tĩnh to Đà Nẵng from this evening through tomorrow night. Thanh Niên at 07:32 still prints a higher total. No sight is named as closed.

The bulletin to use this morning is the one the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued at 09:00 on 27 October 2026. From this evening through the night of 28 October, it forecasts moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms from Hà Tĩnh to Đà Nẵng city, commonly 50–100 mm, and locally very heavy, over 200 mm. It warns that the rain can exceed 100 mm in three hours. The same bulletin adds a separate line for this morning and this afternoon: from Thanh Hóa to Đà Nẵng, on the east side of the provinces from Quảng Ngãi to Đắk Lắk, and in Khánh Hòa, scattered showers and thunderstorms, commonly 10–30 mm and locally over 60 mm, with a chance of whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong gusts. For 29 October it drops the stretch to 15–30 mm, locally over 70 mm, and says the heavy rain may ease from that night. The total it prints, from this evening through the end of 29 October, is commonly 60–130 mm, locally over 250 mm. It sets the disaster risk from the heavy rain, whirlwinds, lightning, and hail at level 1. The impacts it names are flooding on low ground and in urban and industrial areas, flash floods on small streams, and landslides on slopes. It does not name a sight, a road, or a ticket office as closed. Check on arrival.

Thanh Niên at 07:32 this morning, citing the same center, does not carry those later figures. It still forecasts the day and the night of 29 October at 20–50 mm, locally over 100 mm, and a total from this evening through the end of the night of the 29th of 70–150 mm, locally over 300 mm. It gives that total to four provinces: Hà Tĩnh, Quảng Trị, Huế, and Đà Nẵng. The 09:00 bulletin does not print that list of four, and it does not print a total over 300 mm. The rain already measured is also on two clocks. Thanh Niên counts from 19:00 on 26 October to 03:00 on 27 October and prints locally over 35 mm, including Phúc Trạch in Quảng Trị at 53.4 mm and Đề Gi in Gia Lai at 39.1 mm. The 09:00 bulletin counts from 19:00 on 26 October to 08:00 on 27 October and prints locally over 40 mm: Quỳnh Lưu in Nghệ An at 44.6 mm, Phúc Trạch at 55.6 mm, and Đề Gi at 47.2 mm. It says the night and this morning brought scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy, from Thanh Hóa to Đà Nẵng and on the east from Quảng Ngãi to Đắk Lắk. Thanh Niên’s line for this morning and afternoon does not add Khánh Hòa.

The national civil-defense committee’s letter No. 58/BCĐ-BNNNMT, dated 26 October 2026, quotes an earlier bulletin and asks the provinces and cities from Hà Tĩnh to Đà Nẵng to prepare. The figures in that letter are moderate to heavy and very heavy rain and thunderstorms from this evening through the end of 29 October, commonly 60–120 mm, locally over 250 mm, with a chance of more than 100 mm in three hours. The letter tells those provinces to keep people and vehicles off fords, deep floodwater, fast water, and ground that has slipped or may slip, when the crossing is not safe. It does not name a cave, a peninsula, or an old town as shut. The forecast center sets its next bulletin for 15:30 today.
