A temporary walk is open beside Hoan Kiem until 2 December

Hanoi’s culture department and VTV both put a new lakeside walk up from 8 October through 2 December. One calls it southwest of Turtle Tower. The other calls it the west side and gives the length as about 180 metres.

8 October through 2 December 2026. The two reports place it differently.

Hoan Kiem has a new path, and it is not a permanent one. The city culture department, citing Hoan Kiem ward, describes an artwork called Dải lụa ký ức, a ribbon of memory, southwest of Turtle Tower. The dates in that note are 8 October through the end of 2 December, for the 72nd anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi on 10 October and Vietnam Culture Day on 24 November. The path is raised off the ground so it does not sit on the tree roots. It has mirrors, lights, and places to stop. The ward said the money is socialised, the structure is temporary, and the bank goes back to what it was when the show ends. The department’s page, dated 5 and 7 October, still said the walk was not finished.

VTV, on the afternoon of 8 October, said the scenic viaduct on the west side of the lake had officially opened that day and would run until 2 December. VTV gives the length as about 180 metres, and says the lights come on toward evening. The dates match. The place does not, quite: southwest of Turtle Tower in one report, the west side and about 180 metres in the other. Both describe a raised path among the trees, with mirrors. Neither report prints a fee. The photograph is a shrine at the lake, not the new walk.
