Museums and the prison
Y Ngong holds the museum and Bao Dai’s villa. The old prison is on Tan Thuat.
Dak Lak Museum is at 02 Y Ngong: three floors of ethnology, history, and natural history. Plan on one to two hours, on a weekday morning if you want fewer school groups. An adult ticket is 30,000 VND and a child pays 20,000 VND. Walk out to the longhouse model behind the building.
Bao Dai Palace is the 1926 villa at the same address, a monument rather than a hotel, and 45 to 60 minutes covers it. The prison at 18 Tan Thuat, in Tu An, is the French-built compound kept as a revolutionary heritage site. Go in the morning and give it 45 minutes for the blue doors and the barred cell blocks.
