The park was upgraded on 14 July 2003 from the Đất Mũi nature reserve of 9 August 1986. The area is over 41,800 hectares, and also 41,862 hectares, about 13,400 hectares of mangrove and about 26,000 hectares of mudflat. Designation dates are 13/12/12, site number 2088, 27 November 2012, 2013, and 12 December 2013.
The gate is 15,000–30,000 VND and 07:00–18:00, with time at one point not limited, and also 06:30–17:30, adult 30,000 VND, and 15,000 VND for a child from 1 m to 1.3 m or a student. This park, U Minh Hạ, and the west-coast belt are cores of the 2009 biosphere.
