Shopping

Buy fabric, a hand-sewn áo dài, fish sauce, and dried central-coast food at Han Market, and carved stone at Non Nuoc below the Marble Mountains.

Han Market

The two-floor hall beside the swing bridge, rebuilt in 1990, is the city’s shopping market. The clothes side has shoes, bags, fabric, and souvenirs, and tailors sew an áo dài to order and have it ready within the hour. The food side sells fresh seafood, fruit, fish sauce, and dried central-coast food to carry home.

The hall is at 119 Tran Phu, between Tran Phu, Bach Dang, and Hung Vuong, and opens from 06:00 to 19:00. There is no gate fee. Agree a price before the tape measure comes out.

Stone at the foot of the hills

Non Nước, the stone-carving village at the foot of the Marble Mountains, has worked stone since at least the 17th century, and the craft was listed as national intangible cultural heritage in 2014. Workshops set their carving out by the road, from guardian lions to Quan The Am figures. Walk it after you climb Thuy Son. The village has no ticket.

Night stalls with goods

After dark, the Son Tra night market on the east bank of the Dragon Bridge has souvenir stalls beside the food, and the road in front closes to traffic after 17:30. The An Thuong 4 night market, about 40 stalls from 17:00 to 23:00 and free to enter, sells OCOP goods, the certified local products of the region.
