Sunday markets in Đồng Văn and Mèo Vạc, and a weekly stall day at Phố Cáo for Hmong cloth.
Sunday markets
Sunday is the market in Đồng Văn and Mèo Vạc. People from the villages trade, at night or early morning in the old quarter. Ask your host when the stalls fill, because the timetables are hard to pin.
Phố Cáo meets once a week for household goods, clothes, and spices, with Flower Hmong skirts and Black Hmong tunics. It now sits inside xã Phố Bảng. Lùng Tám, in the foothills still called Quản Bạ, is hemp spun, dyed, and woven, with a shop next door.
