Lighthouse island off the Đồ Sơn shore
Take a boat to Hòn Dấu, walk to the sea-god temple, and climb the lighthouse. The island sits off Đồ Sơn, a bit under 2 km offshore, and Vạn Hoa hill is nearly 2 km off the shore. Land and walk about 100 m to the Nam Hải Thần Vương temple, then climb the lighthouse. The French tower was started in 1884, finished in 1896, and lit in June 1898. That tower stood 65.8 m until bombs brought it down in 1967. Another light was built after that. The height of the light you climb is Check on arrival.
