Mang Den

Communal house

Kon Pring on Highway 24, with gongs and the nhà rông.

Kon Pring is one of four community tourism villages in Kon Plông, a few kilometres up Highway 24 from town. The tall roof of the nhà rông rises over the fields, with stilt houses under the pine behind. Give it at least an hour. The gate is open 05:00–21:00. Ask before you photograph inside the communal house.

Gongs and xoang dancing, weaving, and rice wine are part of a visit. They run on no fixed weekly schedule, so ask that morning. Stay in a homestay if you want the village after dark and a family meal.

Khanh Lam pagoda sits on a forested hill above town. Climb about 200 stone steps to the tiered roofs above the trees. Back in town, the Mang Den church and its Virgin Mary statue are a short stop on the way to dinner.
