A designed hotel beside the church square, or a lodge in the Ban Ho valley, when the terraces are the day and the bed should still be a statement.
Stay and tours
Sapa splits into a town night and a valley morning. Sleep by the stone church when the Saturday market and the Fansipan cable should be a walk or a short taxi. Sleep in Ban Ho when the terraces should start at the door and town is a planned ride. The lodge shuttle is 45 minutes. Do not expect a walk between Ban Ho and the church square.
Best months are September to October for the terraces, also given as September to November, and April to May for clearer days. Sa Pa airport is not open. Fly into Noi Bai. Hotel de la Coupole prints about four hours from Noi Bai to town. Topas prints a mountain car that leaves Noi Bai from 7:45 to 8:15 and reaches the lodge from 12:30 to 12:45. The night train ends at Lao Cai, then the climb. Sa Pa is 38 km southwest of Lao Cai city.

01 Church-square designed stay
Sapa town
Hotel de la Coupole stands at 1 Hoang Lien and dates the opening to December 2018. Use town when the square, the Saturday market, and the Fansipan cable from Nguyen Chi Thanh should stay close. Weather can close that cable. Cat Cat and Ta Phin can be walked from town without a guide.
02 In-town mountain resort
Cau May
Ville De Mont sits inside Sa Pa ward on the Cau May side, a short ride from the church square, when the mountain resort should still be a town night.
03 Terrace-door national park
Ban Ho Valley
Topas Ecolodge sits at Lech Dao village, Ban Ho commune, inside Hoang Lien National Park. Town to the lodge leaves at 14:00. The lodge to town leaves at 10:00 from pickup 015 Le Van Tam. Book the shuttle a day ahead.
