The mangrove
For a dry morning on the water, when the creek is the reason you came.
This is the mangrove biosphere, called the city’s green lung. Recognition is 21 January 2000, and the nomination year is 2000, Vietnam’s first. Habitats are mangroves, wetlands, salt marshes, mudflats, and seagrasses. The soil is river silt from the Sài Gòn and Đồng Nai, plus a brackish water table. People live in the transition zone. The core and the buffer are forest-guard households, staff, and a few traditional shrimp traps.
The area is 75,740 ha with a population of 71,157; 70,445.34 ha and more than 75,000 people in 2018; more than 75,000 hectares, with a core of 4,721 ha, a buffer of 41,139 ha, and a transition of 29,880 ha; and a core of 6,134.43 ha, a buffer of 29,152.10 ha of forest land and 12,763.56 ha of water, and a transition of 13,227.79 ha of forest land and 7,267.47 ha of water. A 2012 evaluation said 71,964 ha and 67,272 people in November 2011.
Vàm Sát is the forest centre. The tariff still says xã Lý Nhơn. From 1 July 2025 that commune sits inside xã An Thới Đông. The road gate is 60,000 VND, shuttle included, under 6 free, ages 6–11 half, over 11 adult, open 8:00–17:00 every day. From cầu Dần Xây the canoe is 1,075,000 VND for one person, 650,000 for two, 440,000 for three, 320,000 for four to seven, 300,000 for eight to eighteen, and 270,000 from nineteen. The same canoe leg is also from 270,000 VND to 895,000 VND. A full water package runs from 1,335,000 VND for one canoe down to 550,000 from nineteen. The wooden boat on that package is 445,000 from nineteen. A package without Tràm Chim is lower, from 1,260,000 for one canoe to 370,000 for a wooden boat from nineteen. A full-service band is 550,000–1,175,000. The 1,335,000 top and the 1,175,000 top are different. Add-ons include a crocodile swamp shuttle at 20,000 VND, a caged crocodile boat at 60,000, a bird reserve at 55,000 from May through October, a rowing boat at Đầm Dơi at 65,000, and a canoe to Đầm Dơi at 185,000.
A family room for two is 400,000 VND for a weekday day and 600,000 for a weekday night. A weekend day is 500,000 and a weekend night is 750,000, with breakfast included. A third person is an extra 200,000 on a weekday or 250,000 on a weekend. A dorm bed is 150,000 for a weekday day and 200,000 for a weekday night. A weekend day is 200,000 and a weekend night is 250,000.
Long-tailed macaques are more than 1,000, and also over 2,000 monkeys. Monkey Island is a separate entrance of 35,000 VND a person. That line and the 60,000 road gate are different desks. About 2,000 birds of 33 species are at Sân Chim Vàm Sát, and more than 500 bats at Đầm Dơi. Tràm Chim is also over 30 bird species and about 20,000 birds.
