The border falls

The morning you came for: the cascade on the Quay Son, then the pagoda roof over the same valley.

Ban Gioc is the wide cascade at the border, in Dam Thuy, more than 80 km east of the city. A bamboo raft toward the foot is the optional ride. Ask at the gate before you cross at the Ban Gioc–Detian scenic route.

The cascade

From the end of November to the beginning of April the management board says the water is very low and asks you to come between 10:30 and 15:30. Vietnam Tourism describes a dry-season dam release between 10:30 and 13:00, and fuller water from June to September.

Width is not one number. The timing notice says about 300 m wide and 35 m high. Vietnam Tourism says the main fall is over 30 m. An indexed provincial feature said about 208 m wide and was not reloaded.

The pagoda viewpoint

Truc Lam Ban Gioc stands on Phia Nhan. Vietnam Tourism calls the walk short and steep. The frame to keep is the roof and the valley. The falls’ low-water window is still 10:30 to 15:30.
