Border cascade on the Quay Son
Stand on the Vietnam bank of Ban Gioc and look across the wide cascade on the Quay Son. Sleep in Dam Thuy, or in Cao Bang city, so the falls are a morning. From the end of November to the beginning of April the water is very low, so come between 10:30 and 15:30. Skip a late arrival in those months. A bamboo raft toward the foot is optional. The gate fee is check on arrival.

The cascade is about 300 m wide and 35 m high, in three tiers. The main fall is also over 30 m. Fuller water runs from June to September. The drier months are October to April, and also October to May.
Do the cave and the pagoda on this day. Pac Bo is north and Phia Oac is west, so leave them for other days. The gate fee is check on arrival. A raft, if you take one, is separate, and that price is check on arrival too.
Getting there and around
Ban Gioc is in Dam Thuy, on the eastern road. The way out of Cao Bang city is National Highway 3, then the valley. The falls are more than 80 km from the city centre. Drive minutes are check on arrival.

From Hanoi
About 340 km north by national highway. Sleep in Cao Bang city or in Dam Thuy. This is not a day return from the capital. Hours on the road are check on arrival.
