The camps

Walk the prison as one site. The tiger cages are part of that site.

Governor Bonard signed the founding decision on 1 February 1862. The system counts 127 cells, 42 isolation cells, and 504 solitary rooms called chuồng cọp. Nearly 2,000 revolutionary fighters were held. A 2019 count says tens of thousands were held and about 20,000 died.

In 1979 the site was ranked a national relic with 17 components. Decision 548/QĐ-TTg of 10 May 2012 ranked it a special national relic. A ticket desk cites 50,000 VND and a half-price 25,000 VND. That relic ticket is not the park’s scenic fee.
