Cable-stayed bridge over the Hậu with a 550 m main span: see it from the quay at dusk or from a river boat. Treat it as a view, since there is nothing to visit on the bridge itself. Its towers rise 175 m above the water, and it carries National Route 1 into the city from Vĩnh Long.

The bridge crosses the Hậu, the largest branch of the Mekong, between Can Tho and Vĩnh Long. It is 2.75 km long, the main span is 550 m, and the two towers stand 175.3 m high. Ships pass under 39 m of clearance. When it opened in 2010, it had the longest cable-stayed main span in Southeast Asia.

Look for it across the water from Ninh Kiều, or from the dinner boats that leave the wharf in the evening. Drivers cross on four car lanes, and two outer lanes carry bicycles and motorbikes.
Building began in 2004. On 26 September 2007 an approach span collapsed during construction and 54 people died, the worst disaster in Vietnam's construction history. The bridge opened on 24 April 2010 and replaced the ferries on National Route 1.
