The Bailey span over the Nam Rom
Cross the Bailey span over the Nậm Rốm in the center of town. It links the central sector and the eastern hills. The span is 40 m long and 5 m wide. Soldiers crossed it on the afternoon of 7 May 1954, and people still use it as a road. The fee is check on arrival. Do not treat the 20,000 VND relic point charge as this crossing.

Cross the bridge the French called Bailey. It was built over the Nậm Rốm to link the central sector and the eastern hills. The span is 40 m long and 5 m wide. Soldiers crossed it on the afternoon of 7 May 1954. The bunker stop names the bridge beside it and does not repeat those measurements. The catalog address is phường Mường Thanh, thành phố Điện Biên Phủ. That ward is inside phường Điện Biên Phủ from 1 July 2025.

You cross it. People still use it as a road. Check the visit length on arrival. The 17:30 flag on the bunker and the 15:00 attack order at Mường Phăng are two moments on 7 May 1954. Neither is a clock for this bridge. Pair the span with the bunker during the relic day hours if the bunker is the other half of the stop. The bridge itself is the road.
Getting there and around
The span is in the center of the basin, across the Nậm Rốm, near the De Castries bunker. Walk from a hotel in phường Điện Biên Phủ. Check the minutes and a taxi fare inside the ward on arrival. The airport transfer fares are not a fare for this crossing.
From the basin ward
On foot, in the center. The bridge sits beside the bunker. Check the minutes from a central hotel on arrival.
From the De Castries bunker
The bunker stop names the bridge as something you can see from the yard. Walk across. Check the minutes between the two on arrival. The bunker follows the relic day hours, shut from 11:00 to 13:30. The span is a road outside that gate.

People still use the bridge as a road. A clock for the span alone is check on arrival. If the bunker is part of the same stop, the relic day hours are 7:00–11:00 and 13:30–18:00 from 1 March to 30 September, and 7:00–11:00 and 13:30–17:30 from 1 October to 28 February.
- Closed
Check on arrival. The bunker beside it is shut from 11:00 to 13:30. There is no night opening at the bunker.
- Admission
Check on arrival. The four electronic-receipt points are the monument, Hill A1, the De Castries bunker, and the Mường Phăng headquarters. The bridge is not in that list. Do not assume the 20,000 VND relic point fee applies. The museum’s 100,000 VND ticket and the 5,000 VND line are not this span.
