The rocks are the pair with a gap between them. You see them from the water, on route 1 or on a crossing boat. They are the symbol of Hạ Long tourism. Come in daylight so the gap reads.

Many boats toward Cát Bà pass Hòn Trống Mái and keep going. The fee is the route you are already on.

Getting there and around

From the route-1 boat out of Cảng tàu khách quốc tế Hạ Long, or from a crossing boat. The Cát Bà shortcut is about 7 km.

From the Ha Long port

Inside route 1, which is 3–4 hours for Thiên Cung, Đầu Gỗ, and Ba Hang. The rocks are what you pass. The port does not say the boat stops.

On a Cat Ba crossing

Many crossing boats pass the pair and keep going. The shortcut is about 7 km and about 200,000 đồng a guest for two ways, on the 9 June 2024 account.

Inside the route. Route 1 on the 15 March 2024 page is 440,000–460,000 đồng. A crossing toward Cát Bà is a different fare: about 200,000 đồng a guest for two ways on the shortcut, and the Tuần Châu–Gia Luận ferry with no fare printed. Both routes stay.
