Imperial Citadel of Thang Long Hoàng thành Thăng Long

The UNESCO citadel in Ba Dinh

Give the citadel a morning of its own. Walk through Doan Mon Gate into the UNESCO-listed central sector, where an 11th-century Ly dynasty citadel was raised on a 7th-century fortress, and look up at the flag tower. It is a separate ticket from the mausoleum next door, so plan the two as different stops.
