The walking street runs from City Hall to Bach Dang wharf. City Hall, the administrative seat of the People's Committee, stands at 86 Le Thanh Ton, Quan 1, and is closed to the public. You look at the front from the paving. Sundown is the hour this block fills. Midday is the same walk with more heat and fewer people.

Apartment 42 Nguyen Hue is a former residential block of cafes and shops along the walk. Dong Khoi meets this street in the center, so a room on either street puts the cathedral square, the post office, and this paving on foot. That walkability is the reason to sleep in District 1. The trade-off is noise and motorbikes on the square after dark. Bui Vien, branded the second official walking street in 2017, is the louder night across Pham Ngu Lao.
