Merchant houses
A tube house you can walk, with the shop at the front and the river at the back.
Shop at the front, river at the back
Merchant houses such as Tấn Ký are the inside of the street: a shop at the front, the river at the back, and the family still upstairs. The ground floor is the visit.
Tan Ky House A lived-in tube house at 101 Nguyễn Thái Học: the shop at the front, Chinese characters on the columns, and the river at the back. The family still lives upstairs, so the ground floor is the visit. Come in the morning.
Phung Hung Old House A timber house at 4 Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai, more than a hundred years old, with a Chinese balcony, a Japanese four-way roof on the middle bay, and a Vietnamese frame on eighty ironwood columns. The eighth generation still lives here.
Quan Thang Old House A one-storey merchant house more than 150 years old that runs through from Trần Phú to Nguyễn Thái Học. Kim Bồng carpenters cut the wood, and Chinese ceramics line the sky well.
