Hoi An Market Chợ Hội An
The market hall in the old town
The yellow market hall inside the old town, with herb and vegetable sellers along the front and a food hall for cao lầu inside. Come in the daytime to eat a bowl under the roof, buy mắm cá cơm and gift cakes, and walk the baskets of greens. The night market is a separate street after dark.

The yellow hall is Chợ Hội An, the open market inside the old town’s heritage area. The food hall inside is a place for cao lầu, and the produce stalls along the front are the other half of the visit: herbs, fruit, and the baskets you walk through before you sit down. Counters sell mắm cá cơm, the local anchovy sauce, and gift cakes such as bánh ú tro and bánh ít.

Eat here when you want the bowl in a hall rather than on a night-market street. The night market is a different place, on Nguyễn Hoàng, Công nữ Ngọc Hoa, Trần Quý Cáp, and Bạch Đằng. Come to the hall in the daytime.
Getting there and around
