1 Day 1: Old Quarter
Land in Hanoi and walk the Old Quarter north of Hoan Kiem Lake. Book an airport transfer from Noi Bai. Search Old Quarter hotels for the night.
2 Day 2: Lake and citadel
Walk Hoan Kiem Lake, see the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, and eat bun cha.
3 Day 3: Ha Long
Take route 2 from the Ha Long passenger port: Ti Top, Sung Sot, and Luon on one boat, clocked at 5–6 hours.
4 Day 4: Trang An
Sit the sampan at Trang An, and walk Hoa Lu if the morning is still open. Search Ninh Binh hotels for the night.
5 Day 5: Tam Coc
Take the sampan through the three caves, about 2 hours on the water. Hang Mua is the stair for the view over the valley, and its time is Check on arrival.
