Lap An Lagoon Đầm Lập An

Brackish lagoon between Phu Gia and the bay

Look across the lagoon from the shore or from Nguyễn Văn, at oyster stakes, round boats, and the mountain. A sand strip shows only at a strong low tide. No access fee is set. Skip it if you only wanted the sea swim.

Look from the shore, from Phú Gia, or from Nguyễn Văn. This is a brackish lagoon beside Highway 1A at đèo Phú Gia, the Bach Ma range on one side and the bay on the other. Oyster lines and round boats are the working landscape. The 2018 plan makes this lagoon the service and dining subzone of the national tourism area.

At a strong low tide a sand bridge, cây cầu cát, shows across the water. It is short. Turn back before the tide covers it. One account uses Đầm An Cư as another name for this lagoon, at the foot of Phú Gia. The zone office describes Đầm An Cư at the foot of Hai Van as its own water. Do not assume the two names are one shore until you are there.

Oyster farming here dates from the late 1990s. The plates are hàu nướng trui, cháo hàu, hàu xào hành tây, and gỏi hàu, eaten on the lagoon. Check a stall price on arrival. A price for one household raft is not a town ticket. March to June is one best-looking stretch, and it is not a harvest calendar. Time on the bank is check on arrival.

Getting there and around

Nguyễn Văn is the lagoon road, on the land side of the beach strip. A walking stretch along it runs about 450 m from the new market toward Trường THCS Lăng Cô. That length is the design of the walking street, not a measured walk from the sand. Minutes from the beach are check on arrival.

From Lang Co beach

The lagoon is the land side of the same strip. Walk or ride to Nguyễn Văn. Minutes are check on arrival.

From Hue

The town is about 60 km south of Hue center. The lagoon is inside the town, at đèo Phú Gia. Drive minutes are check on arrival.
