Lang Co

A beach town on a long sandy strip under the Hai Van Pass, between Hue and Da Nang. Swim in the clear water of the bay, watch the boats on Lap An lagoon, drive up to the Hai Van gate, and eat local oysters cooked many ways. One night suits travellers who want a quiet beach stop on the coast road.

Best monthsSummer for the swim

You wake to the curve of the bay under the Hai Van ridge, and the lagoon is on the other side of the same strip. Stay if that morning is the trip. Go to Hue if you wanted the citadel, and to Da Nang if you wanted the city beach.

Lang Co Beach
Lang Co Beach

Swim and walk in the morning and late afternoon, while the ridge is still in the light. The national beach page describes about 10 km of gentle shore, white sand, and clear water, and it does not print a beach ticket. The 25 km figure from Da Nang is through the road tunnel, on that page only. The pass road is the longer one, and it is how you reach Hai Van Gate.

The town is small. Đường Nguyễn Văn, along Lap An, is the evening if the walking nights are still running. The 2024 trial was Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings and was explicitly subject to change. No 2026 calendar was opened, so ask locally. Tân Cảnh Dương is the livelier beach in the same zone, with bars and a seafood fire in the Visit Hue note. It is not a separate town. Chân Mây is the port in the 2018 plan, not a second swimming beach.

No. The national page says the tunnel is the shorter road, about 25 km from Da Nang, and the pass road is the longer one that reaches Hải Vân Quan. The 25 km figure is that page only.
Is there a ticket for Lang Co beach?

When is the Lang Co boat race?
On the morning of mùng 6 Tết at làng An Cư Đông, described as yearly. The civil date moves. The 2026 and 2027 dates were not printed. No ticket was printed.

Getting there and around

Highway 1A runs beside the beach. Nguyễn Văn runs along the lagoon. One paper describes the walking segment as about 450 m from the new market toward Trường THCS Lăng Cô. A taxi, a hired car, or a motorbike covers the station, the beach, and the lagoon.

Phu Bai is the nearest airport. The national page says Lang Co is about 40 km from it, and that figure is that page only. The heritage trains between Hue and Da Nang list Ga Lăng Cô. The same operator page prints two clocks, and the lower boxes leave about 10 minutes at the stop. Use the ticket. Do not assume a north–south SE train stops here.

Hai Van Gate is up the pass road, not through the tunnel. Tân Cảnh Dương and Chân Mây are the north side of the same zone. Bach Ma is the cloud forest above the lagoon. From the park’s 25 Dec 2025 notice, vehicles stop at the km 12 slip from 1 Jan 2026. Be at the visitor center before 09:00 and back before 17:00.
