Quang Ngai
A coastal city on the Tra Khuc, best known for the Son My memorial, with high-speed boats to Ly Son from Sa Ky. Visit the memorial, walk the weekend night street by the river, and eat don, the tiny river-clam soup. One day suits the coast road.

You wake on the Trà Khúc, the river the city is built on, with fishing boats on the water and a long bridge span across the channel. On Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays the evening is Phố đêm Sông Trà, about 300 metres of Tôn Đức Thắng, open 17:00–22:00. The provincial page runs that street from Công viên Thạch Bích to cầu Thạch Bích. A January 2026 report puts the stalls on the east side of the bridge. It opened the evening of 6 February 2026. An earlier line had said around 7 February. Stay when that river night, and the memorial at Sơn Mỹ, are the trip. Go to Hội An when the old town is the trip, or on to Quy Nhơn when the next coast city is.
Give a morning to Sơn Mỹ, in Tịnh Khê. The memorial covers 2.4 hectares at xóm Khê Thuận. The bureau dates the killings to 16 March 1968 and says you stop at the statue, then at the objects inside: a bronze tray with bullet holes, a child’s clothes and sandals, broken pots, a monk’s wooden bell, and a hair clip kept for eight years. The same page commemorates 504 people, and separately prints 47 at xóm Thuận Yên (thôn Tư Cung), 97 at xóm Mỹ Hội (thôn Cổ Lũy), 102 at the watchtower, and 15 at the cotton tree. The bureau’s distance is 13 km northeast. The library’s is about 12 km toward the sea from cầu Trà Khúc 1. The management page prints the phone 0255.3843222 and no fee. A taxi page prints about 20,000 VND. A flower-shop page prints free entry. Both unofficial pages print 7:00–17:00. Those hours are not the office’s. Check on arrival.
The swim is Mỹ Khê in this city, at thôn Cổ Lũy on QL24B, 12 km east: 7 km of fine, gently shelving sand, casuarina behind it, and sông Kinh beside it. Cổ Lũy Cô Thôn is that same shore, not a second beach. It is not Mỹ Khê in Đà Nẵng. The bureau names a 342 hectare plan with a hotel and a campsite. That plan is not an open resort. No beach ticket was printed, and a month when the water is calm was not printed either. The beach page puts Sơn Mỹ 3 km away and Sa Kỳ nearby, and cảng Dung Quất 16 km away.
Thiên Ấn is the seal-shaped hill on the left bank, at xã Tịnh Ấn. The bureau prints 100 m and a plaque Nguyễn Phúc Chu granted in 1716. The library prints 105 m, and a pagoda built in Ất Hợi 1695 by thiền sư Pháp Hóa, about 2 km from cầu Trà Khúc 1. The mountain, the pagoda, and the tomb of Huỳnh Thúc Kháng (1876–1947) were ranked a national relic in 1990. Châu Sa, on the way toward Sơn Mỹ, is an earth wall and a moat, not a standing brick tower. The bureau prints about 3 km of wall still traceable, about 4 m wide and 6 m high, and a perimeter of about 4 km, ranked a national relic in 1994. It is about 7 km northeast of the center on that page, and about 5 km east of Thiên Ấn on the library page. Fees and hours for the hill and the wall are check on arrival. High-speed boats for Lý Sơn leave Sa Kỳ morning and afternoon. One operator page prints about 18–20 km and 25–40 minutes by vehicle to the pier, in xã Bình Châu. The tourism page prints no kilometre, no crossing time, and no fare.
Common questions

- No. This Mỹ Khê is at thôn Cổ Lũy, 12 km east of Quảng Ngãi city: 7 km of sand, casuarina behind it, and sông Kinh beside it. The beach in Đà Nẵng is a different shore. No ticket for this beach was printed.
- What does the Sơn Mỹ memorial cost, and when is it open?
- The management page prints the phone 0255.3843222 and no fee. A taxi page prints about 20,000 VND and 7:00–17:00. A flower-shop page prints free entry and the same hours. The fee is not chosen. Those hours are not the office’s. Check on arrival.
- How do I get to Quang Ngai from Da Nang?
- By rail, the unified table’s SE7 cells are Đà Nẵng 22:30 and Quảng Ngãi 01:16 the next day. SE1 cells are Đà Nẵng 13:29 and Quảng Ngãi 15:59, both marked the next day.
