Carved stones in the valley fields
Carved stones about 7 km out: stop among the terraces in daylight for the rocks in the Muong Hoa fields. The stones sit at Hầu Thào, Sử Pán, and Tả Van, with the largest group around Hầu Thào. The field is a national relic from October 1994, and Victor Goloubev recorded it in August 1925. The ride is about 15 minutes by motorbike, or 15–20 minutes by car.

A carved stone among the Muong Hoa terraces

The stones lie in the Muong Hoa fields at Hầu Thào, Sử Pán, and Tả Van, about 7 km southeast of town. Most of them cluster around Hầu Thào. You look at the carved faces, with the terraces around the rocks. More than 200 stones spread across about 8 km², and one field of more than 100 stones sits on the border of Hầu Thào and Lao Chải.

The field is a national historical-cultural relic from October 1994, recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Information. Victor Goloubev recorded it in August 1925. Entry is free. Read the site before you assume a ticket. The ride is about 15 minutes by motorbike and 15–20 minutes by car.
