From the square the beach is 16 km to the east, 17 km, 18 km, or about 20 km. About 30 minutes by car belongs to the Núi Cấm road and the 18 km. Check the minutes for the other three distances on arrival. Two city buses run out: Bến Thủy–Trường Thi–Cửa Hội–Cửa Lò, and Bến Thủy–Quang Trung–Quán Bánh–Cửa Lò. Fares are check on arrival.

From 1 December 2024 the old beach town is inside Vinh, and from 1 July 2025 the shore wards are phường Cửa Lò. Islands named off this shore are Ngư, Mắt, and Lan Châu, and also Song Ngư and Hòn Ngư. Keep those names apart. Cửa Hội is about 4 km farther, with a cable car longer than 3.5 km and chùa Song Ngư, more than 800 years old. A crossing time and a fare are check on arrival.
