Walk the Nguyễn gate, the moat, and the yard at Thành cổ Vinh. The walls went up in earth in 1804 and in stone in 1831. They form a six-sided line, 2,412 m around and 4.42 m high. The moat is 28 m wide and 3.20 m deep, now a lit lake with a grass bank. The yard is nearly 2 km from the square. A gate fee is check on arrival.

Walk the gate. The wall is six-sided, 603 trượng around, which is 2,412 m, and 4.42 m high, on 420,000 m². The moat is 28 m wide and 3.20 m deep. Earth went up in 1804 under Gia Long. Stone followed in Minh Mạng’s 12th year, 1831. The moat beside the gate is a lit lake with a grass bank.

The walls stand in the older wards Cửa Nam, Đội Cung, and Quang Trung. Cửa Nam and Quang Trung are now in phường Thành Vinh. Look for Thành cổ Vinh. The museum sits in the yard, nearly 2 km from the square. It is the 1930–1931 building, now one museum with the provincial collection.

Come late in the afternoon if you want the moat lights. A gate hour and a fee are check on arrival. Huế is the palace day. This is the gate that is left.
