Tran Quoc Pagoda Chùa Trấn Quốc

The pagoda on the West Lake shore

See the tiered brick-red stupa of Tran Quoc rise above the water on the West Lake shore in Tay Ho, then walk through the pagoda grounds. It is a short stop that fits an afternoon on West Lake, best in daylight when the stupa and its reflection are clear.

Pagodas

Tran Quoc stands on the shore of West Lake in Tay Ho. The tiered brick-red stupa rises above the trees, and the water in front throws its reflection back. Come for that view, then walk through the grounds past the flags and the shrines.

Make it part of an afternoon on West Lake rather than a separate trip from the center. Go in daylight and confirm the opening hours at the gate.

Getting there and around

Tran Quoc is on the West Lake shore in Tay Ho, north of the center. Take a car or motorbike from Hoan Kiem, or walk over as part of a West Lake afternoon.

If the night is in Hanoi, search Old Quarter hotels.
