An Dinh Palace Cung An Định
Khai Dinh’s palace on the An Cuu
Khải Định’s private palace on the An Cựu river, later the house of Crown Prince Vĩnh Thụy, the future Bảo Đại. Walk through the ceramic-relief gate and the octagonal Trung Lập pavilion to Khải Tường tower, a three-storey European-style castle with murals inside. Go for the late Nguyễn court in a European frame, a contrast to the Imperial City.

An Dinh faces south on the An Cựu. Khải Định, then still Phụng Hóa Công, made a residence here in 1902 and rebuilt it with his own money from 1917 to early 1919. From 28 February 1922 it was the house of Crown Prince Vĩnh Thụy, later Bảo Đại. The family lived here after 1945. The grounds are 23,463 square metres.
