Tomb of Khai Dinh Lăng Khải Định

Compact ornate tomb on a renamed hill

The most compact of the royal tombs, about 117 m by 48.5 m on the slope of Ứng Sơn, begun in 1920 and eleven years in the building. Climb the dragon stairs to the carved grey facade, then step inside to the gilded statue of the king. Pair it with Minh Mang or Tu Duc on the four-site ticket.

Royal tombs

Old towns

The centre places the tomb on the slope of Châu Chữ, also called Châu Ê, which the king renamed Ứng Sơn. The plan is about 117 m by 48.5 m. Work started on 4 September 1920 and took 11 years. The centre contrasts that footprint with the larger garden tombs.

An adult ticket is 150,000 VND, and a child from 7 to 12 pays 30,000 VND. Under 7 is free. It sits on the four-site ticket with the Imperial City, Minh Mang, and Tu Duc: 530,000 VND for an adult and 100,000 VND for a child from 7 to 12, for up to two days from the first visit.

Pair it with Minh Mang or Tu Duc rather than giving it a day of its own, and use it if you hold the four-site ticket. Winter ticket sales stop at 17:00.
