The detour leaves the road to Đồng Văn and runs out to the flag at Lũng Cú. Allow three hours. Climb 200 steps to the flag and look over the plateau, the fields, and the karst.

Late afternoon is the kinder hour for those steps, once the heat drops. Start so the climb can fall then and the ride back is still in daylight. Older pages put the flagpole in Đồng Văn district. Xã Lũng Cú is the 2025 commune, formed from Má Lé, Lũng Táo, and Lũng Cú. The visit sits on the Đồng Văn day, with the palace at Sà Phìn.
Getting there and around
Lũng Cú is a detour off the road to Đồng Văn. Allow three hours. The approach is QL4C from Hà Giang town through Quản Bạ and Yên Minh, then off toward the border flag.
Ride back to the Đồng Văn road before dark. The four-day route stays in Đồng Văn that night and uses the market there in the evening or early morning.
From the Dong Van road

From Ha Giang town
QL4C north through Quản Bạ and Yên Minh, then the border detour on the Đồng Văn day. Ride in daylight.
