Hon Ba Hòn Bà

A shrine rock, only at low tide

A small shrine islet off the end of Back Beach: walk out over the rocks at low tide for a short visit. The shrines honour Bà, the patroness of sailors. On the four festival mornings, the 15th of lunar months 1, 4, 7, and 10, people cross between 5:00 and 9:00. At high tide the path is under water.

Festivals fall on the 15th of the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th lunar months. On those mornings the low-water window is about 5:00–9:00, and that is when people walk out. On other days, time it by the tide. If the water is up, stay on Back Beach and watch the rock from the shore park.
