Vung Tau Lighthouse Hải đăng Vũng Tàu

A white French lighthouse on top of Small Mountain

A white French lighthouse on top of Small Mountain: ride up in late afternoon for sunset over the sea. First lit in 1862 and rebuilt in 1913, it is one of the oldest lighthouses in Vietnam. From the terrace you look down on the Christ statue, the city, and the East Sea. Pair it with the statue on the same headland.

The French built the first light here in 1862, 149 metres above the sea, and rebuilt it in 1913 higher on the hill, at 170 metres. The tower is a white cylinder 18 metres tall, with a stair inside and a balcony near the top.
