Ha Giang Hà Giang
The Ha Giang Loop is a mountain road through Vietnam’s far north: passes, minority markets, and buckwheat flowers in autumn. It is a motorbike journey for licensed riders, or a car with a driver. The town of Ha Giang is only the starting point.

Ha Giang town is a provincial stop on the Lo River. The journey people come for leaves town toward Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, and Meo Vac, then back on a different road. The Ma Pi Leng pass is the famous stretch.
This is not a casual scooter day. Roads are steep, weather changes fast, and a Vietnamese motorcycle license is what makes the ride legal. EasyRider-style trips with a driver are the usual choice for visitors who do not hold one. Book a driver who includes the border-district permit.
Common questions
- Can you do the loop without riding?
- Yes. Hire a car and driver, or ride as a passenger with a licensed EasyRider. Do not rent a motorbike you are not licensed to ride.

Mountains, motorbikes, and photography define the loop. Buckwheat flowers, tam giác mạch, are the seasonal reason to time the trip for autumn.
Getting there and around
Sleeper buses from Hanoi arrive in Ha Giang town overnight. Start the loop the next morning, not the hour you arrive. Fuel and meals are in the small towns. Do not plan to ride after dark.
