Phu Quoc Phú Quốc
Phu Quoc is a large island in the Gulf of Thailand. The west coast is sunset beaches and resorts. The north has quieter sand. It is a flight from Ho Chi Minh City, not a Mekong day tour.

Phu Quoc’s main airport sits in the center of the island. Long Beach, on the west, is the resort strip with sunset. Sao Beach and the north are quieter and a longer ride. The island is big enough that “ten minutes from the beach” in a listing can mean a highway.
Fish sauce, pepper, and seafood are the local products. Snorkeling trips leave for the southern islands in the calmer months. The rainy months are still warm, with heavier surf and more closed boats.
Common questions
- How many days on Phu Quoc?
- Three nights is enough for one beach and one boat day. Less than that is mostly the airport.

Beaches and a slow end to a Vietnam trip. It does not replace the Mekong. Do not schedule both on the same day.
Getting there and around
Flights from Tan Son Nhat are frequent and short. A prebooked car should meet you; the airport taxi queue is workable if the price is agreed. Scooters are widely rented. Ride only with a valid motorcycle license. Taxis and Grab cover the west coast more reliably than the far north.
