Hoi An Hội An
Hoi An is a preserved trading port of wooden shophouses, a Japanese covered bridge, and a river that floods in the late-year rains. Two nights lets you walk the old town in the day and again after the shops thin out. The ancient-town ticket covers a set of old houses, museums, and a performance.

Hoi An was a trading port where Japanese, Chinese, and later French merchants left shops and assembly halls. The old town is small. You can walk it in a morning and still spend the next day on a bicycle to the beach, a cooking class, or the ruins at My Son.
Tailors will find you. Use one with time for a fitting if you actually want clothes. The monthly lantern nights are crowded and pretty. In October and November the river can rise into the streets; check the season desk and do not plan museum time during a flood peak.
Common questions
- Is Hoi An worth visiting in October?
- October and November are the flood months. The town can be beautiful and knee-deep on the same week. If your dates are fixed, keep a Da Nang beach hotel as a backup.
- Do you need the ancient-town ticket?
- You need it for the old houses and assembly halls on the ticket. You can walk the streets, eat, and cross the bridge area without buying every museum.

Old streets, food, and photographs. The beach is a bonus, not the reason. My Son is the history add-on, a morning trip.
Getting there and around
A taxi or prebooked car from Da Nang airport takes under an hour outside rush traffic. Grab works once you have a local SIM. Bicycles are the right tool for An Bang beach and the rice-field edge of town. The old-town core is walking only in the evening pedestrian hours.
