Buses
Sleeper buses and limousine vans are the workhorses between cities the train misses. Book a company with a named pickup, and expect the advertised time to include traffic.

How to book
Vexere and 12Go list the operators. Limousine vans cost more than a basic sleeper and are usually the better night. Read the pickup point. “Hanoi” can mean a station on the edge of the city.
Keep your bag ticket. The hold underneath is opened at stops.
