Da Nang Đà Nẵng
Stay in Da Nang when you want the airport, a long beach, and a city that still feels like a city. Stay in Hoi An when the night in the old town is the point. The two are under an hour apart, so sleep in one and ride to the other.

If you only have one night and you came for lanterns, sleep in Hoi An. If you have two nights and you want to swim, sleep on My Khe and ride over for an evening. Trying to do both cities properly from a single afternoon is how people see neither.
Give the first morning to the Cham Museum, on the river, before the sand. It takes about an hour, and it is not a substitute for the ruins at My Son. When you want a view instead, ride to Son Tra. The 67-meter Quan The Am looks out over the sea, and the ride is half the visit.
The Marble Mountains sit on the road you will already take toward Hoi An, so they belong to a transfer day. Climb one hill. Dragon Bridge is the evening picture of the city, from the river path. Hai Van, north toward Hue, is a clear-weather detour by car or with a licensed rider, not a box to tick.
Common questions
- Should you stay in Da Nang or Hoi An?
- Sleep in Hoi An if the old town at night is the reason you came. Sleep in Da Nang if you want a beach morning and a shorter airport ride. See the other city as a ride, not as a second hotel move in the same day.

Events
Side trips from Da Nang
Da Nang by interest
My Khe is the swim, in the drier months, and the bars sit on the streets just inland. This guide does not name one.
The Cham Museum is the cultural hour, on the river, before you commit the day to the beach. It is not a stand-in for My Son.
Dragon Bridge is the evening walk. For lanterns and cao lau, ride to Hoi An.
Getting there and around
Grab is the easy way across town. The beach and the river are far enough that you will not walk from dinner to your hotel, so pick a base and stay with it. A car to Hoi An takes about 30–45 minutes. Buses run, and they take longer once the luggage is in play.
