Mai Chau’s floor is a wide rice valley with Thai stilt houses. The ride from Hanoi crosses a pass and drops into the valley. It is an easier landscape than Ha Giang and a shorter transfer than Sapa.
Stay in a stilt house if you want the point of the trip. The valley is walkable and bicycle-friendly.
